In 2025, FAW-Audi and SAIC-Audi will each launch their own versions of the A5L. Despite sharing the same name, these two models will have significant differences in design, positioning, and other aspects.

FAW-Audi A5L

The FAW-Audi A5L’s exterior design closely resembles its German prototype, with an overall style that leans toward elegance and luxury. The new model retains a traditional three-box sedan design, featuring smooth and graceful body lines. At the front, the FAW-Audi A5L adopts Audi’s signature hexagonal grille, adorned with chrome accents, creating a grand yet refined visual effect. The license plate position is relatively high, in line with traditional Audi models, reinforcing its classic design aesthetic.

FAW-Audi A5L is positioned as a technology-driven luxury sedan, targeting mid-to-high-end consumers who value quality and comfort. The new model will be equipped with the latest intelligent technology features, including a fully digital instrument cluster, a large central touchscreen, and an L2-level advanced driver assistance system, enhancing the car’s technological appeal and convenience. Additionally, the interior design will focus on luxury, utilizing high-end materials and meticulous craftsmanship to provide an exceptionally comfortable experience for passengers.

SAIC-Audi A5L Sportback

In contrast, the SAIC-Audi A5L Sportback continues some of the design philosophies from its predecessors, showcasing a more fluid and dynamic body shape. The front end features Audi’s signature hexagonal grille, filled with black honeycomb mesh, and paired with a blacked-out Audi logo, reinforcing its sporty character. The matrix LED headlights add a sense of depth and are programmable, offering eight digital lighting signature options that enhance the car’s technological appeal.

The side profile is equally striking, with a sharp shoulder line running from the front fender to the rear, creating a sleek and refined look. The car features semi-hidden door handles, while muscular rear fender lines emphasize its dynamic stance. Blacked-out window trim and additional black accents on the lower door panels further enhance its sporty aesthetics.

At the rear, the design presents a layered look, with a full-width digital OLED taillight that visually widens the rear end and echoes the front Audi logo. The taillight design is intricate, enhancing the overall premium feel. Additionally, the SAIC-Audi A5L Sportback adopts a liftback tailgate design with a large opening. When the rear seats are folded down, cargo space expands significantly, making the car more practical.

The new model is expected to feature a 2.0 TFSI engine with two power outputs: 110 kW and 150 kW. It will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, with the lower-power variant being front-wheel drive and the higher-power version available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

The FAW version of the all-new Audi A5L serves as the successor to the current A4L, while the SAIC version of the A5L continues the legacy of the previous-generation A5 Sportback in spirit. The two models exhibit significant differences in styling and spatial layout, catering to different consumer preferences.
